The miniature park of Italy was created by Ivo Rambaldi, who wanted to out do the Switzerland Miniature Park. Italia in Miniatura was opened on the 4th of July, 1970, after three years of studying and measurements of the real monuments that were to be reproduced. The park has an area of 20,000 square meters, displaying 50 miniatures, from mountains and lakes, to famous squares and important monuments. The small replicas are made from foam resin, a resistant material. The park is located on the Adriatic Riviera.
